Back Pack Buddy Program

In 2016, with the support of a Rotary District Matching Grant, the Rotary Club of South Charleston launched a new Back Pack Buddy Program at Richmond Elementary School.  In 2017, our program expanded and we are also assisting Bridgeview Elementary School with their Back Pack Buddy Program.  This initiative is one of our Club's most exciting partnerships of service to our community.  To help curb hunger, we provide more than 85 students with weekend meals during the school year.

It costs approximately $5-$6 dollars per child to supply them with three meals and a snack for each of the two days they are off from school during the weekend.  This is a void that we desperately need to fill for these children in our community.

This program would not be possible without the support of the community.  A $250 donation will supply food for one weekend during the school year.  If you or your business would like to sponsor a weekend, your support would be greatly appreciated.  Please make your check payable to the Rotary Club of South Charleston and in the memo designate that it is for our "Back Pack Buddy Program."  Please note that partial donations are also accepted.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Rotarian, Kathleen Walker by email: or phone: 304-550-7216.
